This simple yet aromatic jeera rice is a great choice for a quick meal and pairs wonderfully with any curry. I hope you enjoy making and eating it as much as I believe you will! 😊

Ingredients:

Basmati rice: 1 cup

Water: 2 cups

Oil or desi ghee: 1 tablespoon

Cumin seeds (jeera): 1 teaspoon

Salt: ½ teaspoon (or to taste)

Method:

1.Prepare the rice:

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from becoming sticky.

2.Heat the oil:

In a deep pan, heat the oil or desi ghee over medium heat. Once hot, add the cumin seeds and let them splutter for a few seconds, releasing their aroma.

3.Add the rice:

Add the rinsed rice to the pan and stir gently for 1-2 minutes to coat the rice with the cumin-scented oil.

4.Add water and salt:

Pour in water and add salt. Let it boil then put on simmer.

5.Serve:

Turn off the gas in 20 minutes or once all the water has evaporated and the rice have been cooked. Transfer into a serving plate and enjoy.
